HOPE Consent Disclaimer
As indicated in the Board of Review (BoR) and Office of the Assessor (OoA) information and application process, by agreeing to submit a HOPE Application, Homeowner is agreeing to the following:
The Homeowners Property Tax Exemption (HOPE) is provided in accordance with MCL 211.7u of the General Property Tax Act. This application process is provided as a service to homeowners of the City of Detroit. All information contained herein is subject to change without notice. By using this service, in any form, the user agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Detroit and anyone involved in storing, retrieving, or displaying this information from any damage of any type that may be caused from its use. The application is required to be signed by the homeowner and the submission of the application is an acknowledgment of such. Applications that are not submitted by the homeowner and/or the use of false information are subject to the penalties of perjury under the law. The homeowner is required to submit ALL required and/or supporting documentation at time of submission. Incomplete applications will delay the reviewing process and may result in a denial of the application. The City of Detroit Board of Review makes no immediate claim that the application submitted will be approved. 2024 and 2025 HOPE Applications must be submitted no later than November 7, 2025 by 4:30 p.m. Decisions will not be provided until after the final meeting of the Board of Review.
By submitting the HOPE Application, the Board of Review may use or access other services or means in the review of your application. The Homeowner authorizes the sharing of their name, address, parcel number, phone number and email address to certain community partners for the purposes of providing Homeowner with additional resources which may benefit you and your household. Homeowner applicant further acknowledges that all HOPE applications are subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The BoR does not share private information, including social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, bank account numbers or any other sensitive information.
CHN Housing Partners (CHN) is the Administrator of the DHN. The DHN, through its Members and Partners, assists with the process and submission of HOPE Applications to the BoR and provision of Information needed for the process of assessment adjustments by the OoA. By participating in this process and submitting a HOPE Application through the DHN, you are agreeing and consenting to the DHN Privacy Policy and the sharing of your information, including the above information and all information reasonably necessary for completion and submission of your HOPE Application through the DHN, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless CHN and the DHN, including its Members and Partners and anyone assisting in the Application process on behalf of the DHN, from any damage of any type that may be caused from use of this service, including any loss associated with an error in transmission to the OoA resulting in the delivery of an incomplete or untimely HOPE Application. CHN and the DHN do not make application decisions and cannot guarantee that your application will be approved.
